The topics explored in war movies are combat, survivor, getaway stories, tales of fearless sacrifice and struggle, submarine warfare, studies of the inefficiency and brutality of the battle, the effects of war on society, and intelligent and reflective explorations of the moral and human issues. However, those activities shouldn't overshadow the true meaning of the day. There's nothing wrong with celebrating by cooking up a Memorial Day feast, complete with yummy Memorial Day desserts. Whether you're in the mood for an epic thriller or a thoughtful drama, war films can help remind you of the ultimate price paid by the men and women who have served our country. Memorial Day (which lands on May 31 this year) is a solemn day meant to honor servicemen and women who lost their lives while serving in the Armed Forces. While Memorial Day is certainly celebrated as a three-day weekend chowing down on the best grilled burgers, delicious picnic foods, and the start of some truly warm weather, the holiday is about so much more than a chance to finally wear a white t-shirt. ![]()
